Fundamentals of Computer Networking

Prerequisite:A need to understand computer networking plus completion of Introduction to Personal Computing, Windows 95/NT 4.0, and hands-on experience with several software programs 

This comprehensive three-day technical course will provide participants with an understanding of networking terminology and technology. Whether new or experienced with computer networking, participants will solidify their conceptual knowldege of local area networks. Whether new or experienced with computer networking, participants will solidify their conceptual knowledge of local area networks (LAN's), wide area networks (WAN's), and interconnectivity. Course will benefit office automation, telecommunication, and data processing professionals; design engineers; programmers; analysts; and business managers. Also excellent preparation to become network administrators. 

By means of lecture, discussion, demonstrations, and paper-pencil excercises, participants will learn: Netwroking concepts, terminology, protocols, LAN topologies, LAN media access protocols, how to work with LAN operating systems, how to interconnect LANs, how to recognize WAN connectivity options, how to connect a LAN over a WAN. Workbook and textbook are included.

Installing and Maintaining Windows NT 4.0

Prerequisite:Fundamentals of Computer Networking and Introduction to Windows 95/NT 4.0, or equivalent knowledge and skills 

Topics include: * understanding core componants of Windows NT architecture * learning techniques for trouble-free installations * learning the user interface for NT 4.0 Workstation * controlling system start-up and shut-down * using NT Registry * managing file and print resources * supporting and managing NT 4.0 * maximizing network and system security * managing user accounts * addressing compatibility with non-NT applications, NT Explorer, MS Mail/Exchange 

Fee: $1,125, eighteen-hour course

Supporting Windows NT Server 4.0

Prerequisite:Installing and Maintaining Windows NT 4.0 or equivalent knowledge and skills. 

Topics include: installing, configuring Windows NT Server 4.0 * handling issues of directory replications * maximizing Windows NT resources * managing domains * understanding RAID specifications under NFTS (fault tolerance) * using Remote Access Service (RAS) * understanding fundamentals for network connectivity * learning troubleshooting and performance tips. 

Fee: $975, twelve-hour course
